The Anchorman Mixtape
Do you like music? How about movies? Finely crafted mustaches? If you answered yes to one or more of those questions, we have just the thing for you. In his Anchorman Mixtape, k-os introduces each of his songs with one of Will Farrel's top quotes from the movie, starting each song off on a humorous note before getting down to business. He raps over some interesting electro beats, and the verses flow smoothly into the choruses. One big feature is Drake on Faith. Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IX8znQw8-Q. Listen all the way through before making up your mind. There's also a download link after the video.
Undefeated
Undefeated, the popular L.A. store that has expanded all the way to Japan, released a new look book for their fall line, and it's pretty dope. Check it out, as well as their blog, shop locations, billboard project, and more at www.undftd.com. Also, definitely take a look at some of their merchandise on cart.undftd.com. It's not as wide of a selection as at their stores, but you are still sure to find a lot of steezy gear including shoes, tees, and at least one fresh hat (pictured).

Pond Hopping
Earlier this month we did profiles of Bodega and Major, two underground clothing and shoe stores in Boston and and D.C. Today the Threadsmen's French connection wants to introduce Star Cow, a classy grassroots operation in Paris. While you can browse their extensive inventory on their blog, www.starcow.info, if you want to buy you must pay a visit to their store. That being said, it would be well worth the trip. If you want a little imported Euro steez, this is the place to go. They have great sweaters, interesting Vans, and some sweet corduroy jackets. Much like Bodega or Major, you never really know what you're going to get until you get into the store. If you're ever in Paris, be sure to check out this spot (and maybe send a little something back to your favorite bloggers?).

Party Records
This has been an excellent week for free music. Tuesday, Hoodie Allen released his mixtape, Pep Rally and at 12:01 am this morning, Sam Adams dropped Party Records. Sam breaks away from the pop feel that dominated Boston's Boy and raps over some dance, techno, and dubstep beats. With tracks produced by Rusko, Bassnecter, and Deadmau5 this is a great tape to play at parties. There are a lot of tags though, which is kind of a bummer. I'm not trying to have DJ Whooo Kid yelling every 30 seconds. Pep Rally has a more relaxed feel. Hoodie's lyricism takes center stage as he raps over some mellow beats. Great for chilling or doing homework. All in all, these are two great tapes, be sure to grab them before the weekend.
Speaking of dubstep, here is my favorite video of all time. The song is called Paranoid by Dansette Junior. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8wLLedNa3w

Radness
While the leaves haven't started to change yet, the weather is telling us that fall is here. While this is not typically a season for bright colors, at the Headless Threadsmen, we believe that good steez is always in season. Earlier this week, Warriors of Radness, a California based clothing company released their fall line. They are known for their willingness to experiment with risky designs and color combinations. There is something for everyone in this collection: trench coats, sweatpants, wind breakers, and jackets. Check out their website at http://www.warriorsofradness.com/news. Speaking of new lines, word on the street is that Academy Cotton is about to come out with some news about their Fall/Winter 2011 line. More to come about that. As always, keep it classy.

New Split Second Featuring Loggy
This song dropped a few days ago. When we saw that Split Second and Loggy had collaborated on this track, we had to post it. They sample Foster The People's "Pumped Up Kicks", and the product is really chilled out and fun. J Jaxx, Xcel, and Loggy deliver the goods on their verses. Look for more from these guys in the near future. Follow the link below to download.

Outdoor Technology
In one of our first posts, we featured Outdoor Technology's Triangle Speakers. This past week we picked up a pair of their Tyvek Wallets, and we have been extremely pleased with them. Not only are they waterproof and extremely durable, but every time you take it out people comment. Every time. Unlike leather wallets, they don't stain when wet and even though they are made of recycled paper, they are impossible to tear. They come in five different varieties and are a steal at $5.95. Cop one at http://shops.hookit.com/outdoortechnology/ViewProduct/TyvekWallet™/14.aspx . Check back later in the fall for more on these guys. Keep it steezy.

It's That Day Again: Bro Talk's 5 For Friday
From the great northern unknown that is Maine, the men of Bro Talk have delivered some fresh new tracks. We have some big names on this list as well as some budding talent from overseas. There are a couple great chilling songs here mixed in with some bangers. Without further ado, Academy Cotton and The Headless Threadsmen are proud to present the second installment of The Bro Talk 5 For Friday.
1. Runaway Love (remix ft. Raekwon and Kanye West)- Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber isn't usually someone I listen to, but this track is a major exception. Kanye and Raekwon sound great over the Wu Tang beat, and Justin adds a nice R&B feel to the track.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huj1r7j37Sk
2. Shirt Off- Young Ivy
Why this little dude got his shirt off again? This is Maddox's theme song. A new Swedish rapper puts fun lyrics over a fun beat for a great dance track.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9E-EdfPOMM8
3. Good Life- Chiddy Bang
New Chiddy track fresh out the oven. Keep an eye out for their coming album, it should be tight. We havn't heard anything bad from these guys.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fw47Gvx-HQQ
4. Kickstarts - Example
Heres a hot euro club track for you. The video is every bit as good as the song. Keep an eye on these guys. Shout out to Bermuda Girl for hitting me up with this one.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9yGcKlYAiw
5. Alors On Danse - Kanye West & Gilbere Forte' feat. Stromae
Absolute Banger. Kanye kills it. Enough said.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORqMkdP8TLo
Thats all for this week. Be sure to check back next Friday for more from the Bro Talk gents. Also, check out http://www.shop.academycottonshop.com/ for Academy Cotton's back to school sale. Use the promo code acs-20 to get 20% off The Incredible Hulk (green halfzip).

Uncharted Horizons

Golf
It's official: Tiger Woods is on the US Ryder Cup team. Personally, I think that Corey Pavin made a major mistake (feel free to sound off on the pick in the comments), but this post will be dedicated to golf course style. Back in the eighties, golf courses across America were a breading ground for radical fashion ideas. Red, white, and blue argyle pants? Yup. Blue and white checks? Got 'em. Polka dots the size of soft balls? You bet. Today, country clubs have made golfer steez boring. Luckily for all of us, Loudmouth Golf Pants and Bubba Watson are crusading to make golf fun again. Bubba rocks his signature visor, swings a driver with a pink shaft, lets the flow rage, and loves the bright pants. Loudmouth Golf Pants are bringing back the bright colors and crazy patterns in order to make pants that "go straight from the fairway to the party". Unfortunately, the pants aren't available in extra long sizes or else they would be flying off the shelves in the days before the NBA draft. (more on NBA draft night steez later).

The Man. The Myth. The Legend. |
It's a Cinch
So far on The Headless Threadsmen, we've touched on many topics from music to snazzy pants. However, until now, we have been omitting a vital piece of steez intel: how to keep those pants up. Belts, like watches, shades, and power-balance bands, are a subtle way to highlight your outfits. Leather belts are always great for formal gatherings but in a casual setting nothing beats needlepoint belts. They can be a little pricy, but they last for a long time and are not going out of style anytime soon. Check out Tucker Blair and add some serious flair to your wardrobe. While on their site, don't miss their needlepoint flip flops. Same patterns, but on your feet! What's not to love?

Go Daddy? Go Dietzy!
"Go Dietzy" is the newest and hottest domain registrar out there. You've all seen the godaddy.com ads on TV, asked yourself what it is, and probably left it at that. But, I'm here to let you know that godietzy.com is the number one spot to buy and manage websites. And you better act fast because right now on godietzy.com, after buying your domain name you can get free email, free forwarding/masking, and a free website. But hey, check it out yourself today. Go to godietzy.com and buy your website, see if you can rival The Headless Threadsmen or Academy Cotton
Riding in Style
As someone who hasn't gotten around to getting their license yet, I pride myself in my ability to bum rides off people. However, there are always times when this is a hassle or, if you go to boarding school and can't have a car, impossible. Two classy and convenient modes of transportation are the longboard and the bike. As with anything, you need to know what you are looking for before making a purchase in either of these fields. When it comes to bikes, if you are just trying to get around campus quickly and steezily, check out a street bike like the one pictured above. Bianchi makes the stylish bike, which is available in a range of colors. Longboards are preferable to traditional skateboards for two reasons: you go faster with fewer pumps and you don't have to be able to do complicated trick in order to look good on one. Brands to check out are Loaded Boards and Sector 9. In recent years there have been a number of fads to hit the boarding school transport scene, from Rip Sticks to Electric Scooters, but through it all longboards and bikes remain tied as the number one choice.

The Incredible Back to School Sale
Back to school shopping is starting to add up. At Academy Cotton we want to keep style affordable, which is why we are proud to announce our "Incredible Back to School Sale". For the next week, we are exclusively offering our Headless Threadsmen and Facebook followers the "Incredible Hulk Half-Zips" for 20% off. One customer who purchased "The Hulk" said,"I am extremely satisfied, this sweater is comfortable and classy." If you want to look steezy and stay warm at the same time this fall, take advantage of this great deal. The promotional code is acs-20. Before you know it, school will be here and this deal will be over, so take advantage of it while its still here. Let's turn up the AC!
Import From Down Under
For years, bros have been searching for the middle ground between bathing suits and shorts. What do you wear at the beach if you don't plan on swimming but also don't want to fill your shorts with sand? We have found that middle ground: Johnny Fartpants. These duds are made from beach towels and come in a bunch of wacky colors and designs. The guys who started the brand are surfers from Manly Beach, Australia, and the Aussies surfers swear by the pants. As it is starting to get toward fall, these shorts are great because the heavier material is really soft and will keep you warm. Even if you aren't interested in the grabbing a pair, check out their website, http://www.johnnyfartpants.com.au/, and you'll get a sense of what these guys are all about.
Chill Sunday Morning Jam
Earlier this week our boys from Bro Talk showed us Long Miles. These guys are a reggae rock group from down in Charleston, SC. If you're a fan of Pepper or G-Love you are going to love these guys. This song is called Mr. Sunshine and has a smooth feel that will send you off to the beach. There's not much else to say except that these guys do all of their stuff out of their dorm room (just like the Threadsmen), so show some love.

Bracelets For Boys (And Girls) - Power Balance
Livestrong bands led the first wave of silicone bracelets years ago. Now these bracelets are being revolutionized. Power Balance makes a silicone band that they claim improves endurance, flexibility, strength, and balance. I'm not here to tell you that the bands really do make you more athletic, but the tests that they show on their website: www.powerbalance.com would prove that they do. Regardless of that effect though, these bands are made in even more colors than those pictured and can be a pretty stylish upgrade to an exercise outfit or even when you go out at night. If you can pick up a couple different colors to compliment your duds you will be the flyest and apparently most athletic guy (or girl) out there.
Snap Back
Snap back hats have been a staple of college and prep school style for decades. At snaphats.com you can find a huge variety of hats including pretty much every college and most past and present pro sports teams. I even found a Malcom X hat. In the words of one customer, "These guys have rad caps!". If you are looking to bring a retro twist to your steez without resorting to neon, check these guys out and remember to keep it classy and original this Labor Day weekend. Oh and by the way, has anybody seen Earl?
Bananas For Bonobos!
Nothing screams class like a nice pair of pants. And there are no better pants than the ones made by Bonobos. With a contrast pattern in each pocket, these pants take style to the next level. They can be worn to work, or casually on a cool summer evening. So, if you want to level-up your steez I suggest you go to www.bonobos.com and check out what they've got.
Top 10 Funniest Athlete Quotes
Football season is here and basketball is right around the corner. Luckily for us, whenever these stars align we are in for some high comedy. This is especially true this year when Chad Ochocinco and Terrel Owens (above), two of the biggest characters in the NFL, find themselves playing for the same team. Before the season has started, the Bengals already lead the league in number of players with VH1 reality shows. Without further ado, we are pleased to present The Headless Threadsmen list of the 10 funniest athlete quotes of all time. Disclaimer: Academy Cotton and The Headless Threadsmen do not endorse the outfit choices of Terrell Owens.
10. “Ball handling and dribbling are my strongest weaknesses.”—David Thompson
9."I've won at every level, except college and pro."--Shaquille O'Neal
8. "Because there are no fours."—NBA long-range gunner Antoine Walker when asked why he shoots so many threes.

4. "I think that the team that wins game five will win the series. Unless we lose game five."--Charles Barkley
3. After an Olympic Dream Team victory over Angola, in which they won 116-48, Charles got into a physical altercation with a member of Angola towards the end of the game, afterwards he says: "Somebody hits me, I'm going to hit him back. Split Second
Because it's Labor Day, the Threadsmen have decided to give you guys a little something extra for your end of summer blow outs. By now you all have hopefully heard about the new partnership between Split Second and Academy Cotton/The Headless Threadsmen. I've said it before and will say it again: these guys are going to be big. If you missed it, check out our earlier post on them called Academy Cotton Teams Up With Split Second. This is "Fall From Grace", a great track off their last mixtape, "Polos and Solos". Check out their facebook page for more music and downloads.
Bro Talk's First Five For Friday
Labor Day weekend is here, and, as of yet, Hurricane Earl isn't. For many, this means that summer is officially over, and for some its the end of the first week of classes. In any case its a great excuse to have a party. Without further ado, here are some absolutely bangers straight from Bro Talk's secret stash:
1. I Like It (Cahill Club Mix) - Enrique Iglesias
The original version of this song wasn't bad, but this Cahill remix completely takes this it to the next level.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kufJtfKejhI
2. Krazy - Detail f/ Ke$ha
Ke$ha brings a party feel to any song and this is no exception. The guitar in the background provides a great summer feel. This one is especially for our lady friends. Listen for it at parties this fall, it will blow up soon enough. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XSHvJVPDl0
3. Rock to the Beat (Club Mix) - Darius and Finlay
Some great techno right here. I love at 1:12 how the vocals cut out and the beat drops. Mash pit anyone? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dm1xumpYgmc
4. Popular - S-Preme
This ones a bit different than the other tracks on the list. S-Preme is an up and comer who spits great rhymes over tight beats. Expect big things. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZUvUUMiJKA
5. I'm Going in a Beamer Benz or Bentley - 5 & a Dime
Best new mashup artist out there is 5 & a Dime, everything he's touched so far has turned into gold. Check him out on facebook for links to download all his tracks. This is a mashup of Lil Wayne's "I'm Going In" and Lloyd Banks' "Beamer, Benz, or Bentley". After you listen to this check both of those out if you haven't heard them already.

Bro Talk will be back next Friday with five more jams, stay posted for the date of their premier show.

So you just bought some fresh sunglasses. You're rockin' them to class, the beach, and just about anywhere you go. But something's missing:
Croakies are taking over the nation, whether you're a Southern Gentleman or a Prep School kid from New England. Southern Tide is an underrated brand for croakies, but check them out for sure. Everyone knows about Vineyard Vines, but some of these southern brands really get the job done. Check out Southern Tide at www.southerntide.com and pick up some croakies today.

A Major Stop In DC
Major's Logo Featured On Hat And Shoes |
A Clothing Time Machine
Clothing styles are always going out and coming back, and while a leather vest with fringes may still be out of style, hot neon colors from the 80's are starting to pop up everywhere. Warriors of Radness, a clothing company from California, may be leading the charge. They make a windjammer (pictured), shirts and tanks in neon colors. You can check them out at www.warriorsofradness.com
Academy Cotton has big plans for this spring as far as neon colors go. Make sure you check The Threadsmen as often as you can to sneak a peak at the some Spring Line ideas. Shorts, tees, and maybe a lax design or two will be leading the way. This is some pretty forward thinking, but you need to think big when you plan on going huge.
