As someone who hasn't gotten around to getting their license yet, I pride myself in my ability to bum rides off people. However, there are always times when this is a hassle or, if you go to boarding school and can't have a car, impossible. Longboards are preferable to traditional skateboards for two reasons: you go faster with fewer pumps and you don't have to be able to do complicated trick in order to look good on one. In recent years there have been a number of fads to hit the boarding school transport scene, from Rip Sticks to Electric Scooters, but through it all longboards and bikes remain tied as the number one choice.
